Ride Across Portugal. Stage 1 175km/2400m climbing from Chaves to Viseu.
What a first day! The rain, head wind and rough roads made me feel like today was 300km. Except for one climb, it was ‘rolling’ terrain. I came to the assumption that Portugal has no flats – either up or down. But exactly that plus the forests and small town created so much variety in our first stage. The views were fantastic! We are staying in very nice hotels and the post-ride food was excellent. The organization is fantastic!
I loved it, such a great way to experience a new country!
Lets see what the legs say for tomorrow’s 150km and 2100m of climbing to Pedrogão Grande.
This stage race is the perfect preparation for @thevueltaride
