If you have a goal – no matter how big or how “absurd”, NOTHING should keep you away from achieving it. Don’t settle for anything less than the realization of your goals and dreams.
When I decided to set a world record cycling as the first female in history one of the toughest cycling challenges in the world, 80% (!!!) of the people told me it is not possible.
Just imagine, how discouraged I could have felt when 8 out of 10 people were telling me what I planned to do is absurd and impossible.
What those unbelievers saw was that an amateur female cyclist wanted to embark the exact same thing as the best male professionals in the world!!!! How could that be possible? On top of that they saw my struggles with planning the route, organizing the logistics, getting funding and fighting an unknown sickness. Everything promised a huge failure!
But do you know what they didn’t see?
My inner fire. My unbeatable determination. And my strong motivation to become a more self-confident, happier and fulfilled person by pushing my own mental and physical boundaries.
Because I know that by going outside my comfort zone, by doing something that gives me goosebumps, I will grow as a person and enrich my life and confidence of my own abilities.
I have repeated my success of going for seemingly impossible goals – studying at one of the worst universities as a Freshman to receiving a full scholarships to one of the world’s best Master programs, getting accepted to a second Master’s program without any previous experience, working for a top management consulting firm without any previous business degree, moving to a new country without having ever been there, speaking the language or knowing anyone and setting that mentioned cycling world record doing as an female amateur cyclist the same as the best male professionals in the world.
How was I able to attempt the absurd and achieve the seemingly impossible?
- Self-confidence: Be REAL
- Creating a viable journey to success: Be ADVENTUROUS
- Overcoming fear of failure: Be DARING
